Amid today’s polycrisis—in which geopolitical upheavals, economic uncertainty, and environmental challenges converge with declining trust in institutions, expertise, and international cooperation—rational public debate and evidence-based policy advice are coming under increasing pressure. All the more reason, therefore, to foster independent forums that provide context for complex developments, encourage the exchange of divergent perspectives, and enrich public discourse through rigorous analysis.
Against this backdrop, OLTERS GmbH is pleased to launch the newly established, ISSN-registered Olters Policy and Working Paper Series (OPWP), a platform dedicated to scholarly analysis—as a more accessible policy paper (PP) and a more technical working paper (WP)—and innovative perspectives on the pressing political, economic, and societal challenges of our time.
The OPWP publishes contributions across four thematic areas—economics (EC), politics (PO), development (DV), and international relations (IR)—that analyse current developments and derive well-founded policy options from them. The series gives equal prominence to theoretically grounded scholarship and practice-oriented research.
All contributions adhere to academic standards, combining analytical rigour with clear and accessible presentation. The aim of the series is to provide evidence-based analysis of complex issues and to make a substantive contribution to public debate—grounded in reliable sources, nuanced in its analysis, and clear in its reasoning.
The OPWP serves as a forum for diverse perspectives, methodological approaches, and informed disagreement. Individual contributions may—and indeed should—advance clearly articulated positions. The pluralism of the series arises from the diversity of its voices, not from the arbitrariness of individual arguments, provided these remain committed to the principles of scholarly integrity, intellectual honesty, and transparent, well-reasoned argumentation.
Depending on authorship and intended audience, contributions are published in English (EN), German (DE), or French (FR). The OPWP seeks to foster informed, evidence-based engagement with the defining challenges of our time.
